Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens
in Delray Beach, FL

We are planning a group trip and taking reservations now.  We will leave the Cocoa Beach area at 8:30 a.m., and return around 6:00 p.m.  We looking to secure 40 people who want to go, so that we can take a tour bus.  If there are only 22 people, we will have two travel vans.  For only $45 you can reserve your seat.  Everyone is welcome!  Interested?  Contact Julia at n1990new@yahoo.com 

Botanical Fest

The event will be held at:
Florida Institute of Technology
150 West University Blvd.
Melbourne, FL 32901
The Fest is located on Crawford Green. Signs on both West University Boulevard and Country Club Road will point the way.
The annual event will showcase some of Florida’s finest plant and garden vendors, offering palms, exotics, native plants, ornamental shrubs, bamboo and flowering plants. Free guided tours of the Botanical Garden will take place throughout the day, and master gardeners will be on hand to answer gardening questions. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

    IMPORTANT  The Feb 11 general meeting will be at the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church.  3300 N. Atlantic Ave, Cocoa Beach. The fellowship hall, and parking, are behind the church.  Please plan on joining us there at our regular time of 9:30 for the socializing, 10:00 for the business and speaker
Please bring a friend!  Buzz Petsos from Cape Canaveral will be our guest speaker.  He will present a program about Sea Oats.

Have you seen a nicely landscaped yard in the Cocoa Beach area?  Is your own yard especially attractive?  Nominate it for our Yard Appreciation award by emailing the address to sstrawn3@gmail.com.  It may get one of our “appreciation signs” in the yard for one month.  Help us recognize efforts to make Cocoa Beach beautiful.

President's Message

Happy New Year! We continue to experience lots of fun at our general meetings, and have heard from many very informative speakers. I hope you will come when you can, and bring a friend or two. I am always looking for gardening projects, educational opportunities, or conservation needs within our community that we can learn from and/or participate in together. Let’s put our heads together and do something beautiful in our community!

Send me your ideas and we’ll start planning—and doing. January 17th is Florida’s Arbor Day—make sure to spend a little extra time enjoying the natural beauty around us. And if you do a special project in recognition of the day, share it with us in our next newsletter.

Now is not too early to start planning to attend the FFGC Annual Convention in St. Petersburg (April 14- 16). I went to my first one last April and thoroughly enjoyed it. So much information (and lots of fun too)! I hope this New Year brings you much happiness and good health.

Please keep your fellow gardeners in mind as you count your blessings this year. Happy Gardening!   …….Julia

Our first meeting of the season will be on September 11 beginning at 9:30 am with a Meet and Greet, then business at 10:00 am. 

Our program is "Welcome back--look ahead".  We will follow up with a Pot Luck luncheon at 11:30 am, so bring your favorite food to share and join us as we get excited about our upcoming year.

We meet at the Community Church which is located at 126 S Atlantic Ave.

The City of Cocoa Beach and the Cocoa Beach Garden Club have announced the winners of the Annual Christmas Holiday Decoration Contest. Check out the addresses below and take a few minutes during the next few evenings to go "see all the lights". Awards will be presented to the winners by the City Commission at their January 6th Commission meeting. Plaques will go to FIRST PLACE winners in each catagory with 2nd & 3rd place winners receiving a certificate from the Cocoa Beach Garden Club. 2010 Cocoa Beach Annual Christmas Holiday Decoration Contest

The City of Cocoa Beach and the Cocoa Beach Garden Club announce it's time to show your holiday spirit for the annual Christmas holiday decor contest! Categories for judging are:
Best Traditional Home
Best Florida Style Home
Best Condo
Best Business
Best Neighborhood.
Plaques will be awarded by the City for 1st place in each category. 2nd and 3rd place homes will receive a Certificate of Appreciation. Judging will take place within the city limits of Cocoa Beach during the evenings of December 14th and December 15th, so be sure to have your decorations in place and lit!
Anyone wishing to nominate a home, condo or business to be judged for this contest can call the Assistant to the City Manager, Britta Moore, at 868-3201 and leave a message (i.e., name/address of home, condo or business being nominated) or send an e-mail to:
